Scribe "Incandescent Saints" Estate Riesling 2024
Brisk, mineral-driven, and bone dry riesling from a high elevation plot in Sonoma. Ethereal impressions of fine flinty minerals and springtime honeysuckle starts the party. With a little bit of air time, sunny notes of yellow apple, lime, and earthy honey add to the charm. Scribe clearly has a guiding fondness for Alsatian wine, (who else is growing sylvaner in California??) and the influence really shows here. There’s both restraint and opulence, but on balance, they land on the side of crispness and tension. This one does well as an aperitif or social wine, but also compliments quite a variety of cuisine. It’ll really sing with crunchy fried things (schnitzel, tempura…), all things pork whether bacon or glazed ham, and also will do well with a range of cheeses from chèvre to an aged gouda.
100% riesling. Sonoma Valley, California.
