Pierre Girardin "La Petite Montagne" Chardonnay 2023

$90.00

Pierre Girardin is a young rising star in Burgundy with headquarters in Meursault. Like many makers (and drinkers) of Burgundy wine he has also set his sights on the Jura! In this case, he is crafting a gorgeous and serious wine from 80-plus year-old chardonnay vines in a half-hectare plot in the village of Vincelles. This part of the Jura is known for a fairly high altitude, at 450 meters, and a clay and limestone terroir comparable to that of Puligny.

From the importer: “Lemon peel, candied ginger, orange rind and crushed rocks form a gorgeous bouquet. The palate is electric with additional high-toned notes of quince, white peach and salty nectarine. There is extraordinary tension and minerality given by a mouth-watering core of acidity.”

Practicing organic. 100% chardonnay. Unfined and unfiltered. 80+ year-old vines. Fermentation in 600-liter barrels, 50% of which are new. Vincelles, Jura, France.
