Paolo Bea “Lapideus” Bianco 2020

$88.00

“Lapideus” is absolutely a pinnacle of skin-contact winemaking. It's as structured, layered and intriguing as any wine of any style we’ve ever encountered. This is trebbiano spoletino organically grown and hand-harvested on the Bea family’s biodynamic farm in Umbria. 35 days of skin-contact and 210 days on the lees add endlessly stimulating texture and complexity.

Showing an opulent amber color, Lapideus offers an inviting, lush, and wild bouquet - giving cooked orange zest, parmesan rind, and some bloomy esters, reminiscent of a top-class Belgian saison. The soft plushness of the bouquet continues to a sturdier palette of stone fruit made vibrant with some oolong tea tannins, a salty baked-clay minerality, and a modest and proportionate acidity harmonizing into a prolonged and energetic finish.

We’ve already said a lot, but its just the beginning… This will continue to evolve and reveal more pleasures with decanting or cellaring for a decade!

Certified organic and biodynamic. 100% trebbiano spoletino. Pagliaro Vineyard, Umbria, Italy.
