Mare Nostrum "Tramuntana" Carignan 2021
Athenais Beru, of Chablis’ famed Chateau Beru, teamed up with Antoine Isenbrandt on Mare Nostrum Vini, a passion project devoted to wines of the Mediterranean experience, with each bottling named after one of the famed winds defining vine-life in the region. The tramuntana is a north-west wind steadily blowing through Languedoc, keeping the vines healthy and disease-free. With Athenais’ deft touch in the cellar, the old-vine carignan blossoms into a wine both polished and easy-to love in its fruit-forward charm. Discreetly perfumed with violet, silken-textured, and plush with soft red fruit, this is a red that gives easily, demands nothing; quite sophisticated but so very simple to enjoy.
Practicing organic and biodynamic. 100% carignan. 90 year-old vines. Rested 30 months on old oak before bottling. Languedoc, France.
