Georges Descombes Régnié Vielles Vignes 2021
Out of Georges Descombes’ many cru Beaujolais holdings, the Régnié may be our favorite. 100% gamay from 50+year vines on granitic soils, aged in large old burgundy barrels. Licorice, sage, tarragon aromas leap out, along with whiffs of cranberry, black tea, and bergamot, hints of clay, salt, and potting soil. The palate offers svelte integrated fruit lines: strawberry, cranberry, plum, cherry, and subtle wood smoke shot throughout. Its delicate, but not faint, fruit-driven but not cloying.
Practicing organic. 100% gamay. Regnié, Beaujolais, France.
