Fonterenza "Alberello" Sangiovese Toscana 2021
Identical twins Margherita and Francesca Padovani of Fonterenza craft beautiful Tuscan wines, dense and detailed, yet full of grace and ease. This single parcel expression of Sangiovese entices with aromas akin to holiday cookies in the oven; baking spices, sweet licorice, and cocoa, plus subtle violets in the background. Rich and round black and blue berry fruits dominate the palate. The baking spice element returns along with fine-grained tannins punctuating the finish.
“Alberello” is the Tuscan word for bush-trained vines, regarded by the Padovano sisters as a more wild and free method, represented on the label with its drawing of a gorgeously twisted alberello-trained vine.
Certified organic and biodynamic. 100% Sangiovese. Hand-harvested and hand de-stemmed. 24-30 months aging in both concrete and oak vats. Only 5mg per liter sulfites used.
