Elodie Balme Rasteau 2023

$36.00

We love a big bold red that comes across elegant, light-footed, and fruit-forward. Elodie Balme’s Rasteau does just that, presenting a pure and clean plum and berry fruit profile, with no aggressive tannin or oak getting in the way. With a little air, the wine reveals violet, lavender, and dried rose petal aromas, and glints of spices on the palate, both warming baking spice and subtle savory herbs, and even a sneaky hint of marzipan. This is an excellent choice for those seeking a full-bodied red to get cozy with, and unlike many big Rhone reds, this doesn’t require a decade of cellaring to shine!

Practicing organic. Blend of Grenache, syrah, Mourvèdre, and carignan. 30 to 50 year-old grenache vines, 20 year-old syrah vines , 10 year-old mourvèdre, and 50 year-old carignan vines. 90% aged in concrete vat, 10% in old oak demi-muid barrels. Rasteau, Rhone Valley, France.
