There’s a polished and classic approach, much like his “9mg” bottlings so many of you have already enjoyed, but with extra body and a lovely viscosity. The wine impresses before you take a sip, showcasing aromatics of violet, lavender, beeswax, white sage, and red berry fruit. Then the palate has its own set of attractions and intrigues, weaving together blueberry, blackberry, and cassis fruit notes with a broad streak of roasted fennel and a subtle ashen minerality. It finishes with warming baking spice and gentle black-tea tannins. Lovely on its own and will also shine with richly seasoned North African or Provençal cuisine.
