Delaunay Folle Blanche 2024
Folle blanche (aka picpoul) makes a reliably brisk and refreshing white wine, and Antoine and Phillippe Delaunay’s bottling is perhaps its platonic ideal. The wine is open and inviting, with sprightly white flower aromatics, spritzy saline notes, and a nicely textured palate despite being lighter-bodied with lower alcohol. This one is beautifully balanced throughout: citrus-led without going acidic, chiseled minerality without being aggressively bone-dry. An excellent social wine or aperitif, this one is also a go-to pairing for white fish and all kinds of crustaceans.
Certified organic. 100% folle blanche. Vines up to 90 years-old. Minimal sulfates added only at bottling. Vertou, Nantes, Loire, France.
