Chateau Le Coteau Margaux 2021

$65.00

6th generation vigneron Eric Leglise has a bit of pressure on his shoulders. His family’s Chateau Le Coteau happens to be one of a handful of remaining family-owned properties in the prestigious Margaux appellation. Firmly grounded in intergenerational know-how, he focuses squarely on the health of the land, eschewing any pesticides or herbicides, opting for biodiversity-preserving biodynamic practices instead. And if biodiversity is the goal, its a solid benchmark that 200-plus species of bees have been identified on his mere 12-hectares of vineyards! But, on to the juice: very classic Margaux! A modicum of new oak imparts a hit of spice box, a lick of vanilla bean, and a pinch of cocoa nib to the predominant cherry and blackberry notes, adding good structure and detail to the saturated fruit notes. We recommend a good hour’s decant if opening soon. This one can cellar easily through 2035.

Ecocert-certified biodynamic. 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% merlot, cabernet franc, and 2% petit verdot. Margaux, Bordeaux, France.
