Casa Balaguer Tinto 2023
Casa Balaguer Tinto is their flagship red, a careful assemblage of their all red grapes, mostly rare indigenous varietals, plus 5% tortosí, an exceedingly rare white grape. Each varietal is fermented separately in a variety of vessels: clay amphorae, French oak barrels, glass demijohns, as well as concrete and stainless tanks. The resulting single varietals wines are then blended to taste forming a gorgeous full-bodied but well-balanced red with notes of black cherry, currant, garrigue, cocoa, and gentle leathery tannins. Showing well already, but will evolve nicely in the cellar another five to ten years.
Ecocert-certified organic. Demeter-certified biodynamic. 30% monastrell, 30% garnacha peluda, 20% arcos, 15% valencí, 5% tortosí. Lightly filtered. Vilena, Alicante, Spain.
